We Say – Virgil and Dave, two of our team, have been using this spray for the past month. Here’s what they think.
Virgil – I have to say I’ve enjoyed using this product, especially on my legs after a gym workout, or after treadmill running at night. The spray has a fragrant odour of peppermint, lavender, lemon, orange and rosemary oils and is a much more agreeable scent than many athletic rubs and ointments I’ve tried. It also has a cooling menthol effect on the skin that lasts for about 45 minutes. When massaged into quads and calves, the muscles feel comforted almost immediately. It also does wonders for tired achy shoulder muscles. I like the fact that it dries without residue, and does not have a greasy or oily texture afterwards. Highly recommended in lieu of greasy ointments for reducing muscle inflammation.
Dave – I started to have a nagging pain in my left elbow and forearm recently after starting a new weights routine, and yoga. The pain would only last a few hours and it didn’t seem like a severe injury, but it was enough to keep me awake at times if I worked out late in the evening. So I sprayed this SierraSil on and it gave me immediate relief. If you’re familiar with Deep Heat, the initial feeling was like that, a tingling sensation, but then instead of the warming up of muscles there was a cool, fresh feeling and then a complete absence of pain. I was amazed at how quick the pain went away.
You don’t need much of it. When I first used it I didn’t realise how powerful it was going to be, so I gave it 3 or 4 pumps of spray. That was almost uncomfortable, too stimulating. Next time I gave it a single pump and that was fine.
The effect lasts for between 18 and 24 hours. I found that out when I had a lingering ankle twinge that was hanging about for a few days. I sprayed this on and the pain went away until roughly the same time the next day.
I think this is an excellent spray to take away, temporarily, any sort of muscle or structural pain. I won’t be using it for masking pain when I go into races – that would be a temptation but if you do that you risk running through a serious injury and making it worse – but I think it’s invaluable as a short term release from pain.
Finally, it’s not like Ibuprophen or some other pills that do provide some measure of pain relief (although not as good as this does) but wreck the bacteria in your stomach as they do so, this just deals with the area in question, naturally.
In my opinion this SierraSil spray is the best pain relief on the market today, by far.
