We Say – I’ve been using these shorts for canoeing all summer, and the polo top for general travel and casual wear. There have been no surprises, with Helly Hansen you know you’re getting well made, hard wearing gear that you can trust.
The shorts have got wet over and over again – and used day after day on camping/canoeing adventures -Â yet I’ve never felt uncomfortable regardless of their condition. Sitting around in camp on wet grass is no issue thanks to the waterproof and double lined seat and although they get as dirty as any other clothes are a few days travel around muddy estuaries they wash up well.Â
I especially liked and made good use of the front right hand pocket. Large enough for A5 paper – or in my case folded up photocopies of estuary maps – this is a handy pocket, easily accessed whilst canoeing and secure as well as waterproof. For spring through to autumn warmer weather (above 15 c I’d say) canoeing or sailing, these shorts are a good choice.
The Polo shirt is stylish and comfy. I’ve used it over the past 3 months for travel…
…or lounging around at BBQ’s…
It washes up well and I’ve found that as long as I fold it as soon as it comes off the washing line it doesn’t need an iron either. Which is great for when I’m on the road. I just hand wash it, hang it up by the radiator or towel rail and it’s good to go as soon as it’s dry. In fact, in all of the photos on this review, the polo hasn’t been ironed beforehand. This is how it looks straight out the wash. Pretty good, I’d say.
If you’re looking for a hard wearing, comfy polo that also looks good, from a brand that carries a certain gravitas among those who understand outdoors clothing, you might consider this Match Polo.
