They Say - Anti-Blister, Anti-Chafing Balm forms an invisible barrier that guards against the rubbing that causes blisters and chafing. It’s a multi-use daily solution for preventing skin irritation from chafing, ideal for everybody.

Intended as a barrier to the effects of rubbing. Its formulation makes it easy to apply for all-day protection from skin on skin rubbing, chafing from clothing, or pinching and friction from shoes, protective gear, and other irritants.

We Say – Like many runners I have suffered with chaffing at various points around the body during runs. These are mainly during longer runs and are weather dependent, but I am always looking for ways to prevent this from happening so I was happy to be sent a Nuun Bodyglide stick to try out.

It came in a blue container, similar to that of a deodorant stick. It has the twisting wheel at the base to help with ease of raising the balm up so this can be rubbed on the areas that will be affected. The balm is a solid white cream similar to that of a chap stick, maybe slightly harder wearing though.

The first time I used this I rubbed it on the affected areas, between my legs with ease and over my nipples, leaving only a clear residue on the areas. I also tried to rub this between my toes as I have previously been affected by blisters there, this took a little practice by moving my toes around by hand whilst I rubbed the stick over my feet. After I had used the stick my hands were not greasy like they normally would when using petroleum jelly, this meant not needing to go wash my hands before I set off.

I was then ready to run and off I went on a 13 mile route. I never noticed that I had the glide on at all like I had previously with Vaseline. The temperature never got above 8 degrees whilst running but I was running into a head wind, my nipples would normally rub on similar run but on this day there was no rubbing. My thighs were not sore from chaffing and as for my feet there were no blisters but then this may have been because of the cold weather. Although this was a positive first experience I knew I needed to continue to test it out to get a fuller picture of the effectiveness.

I have continued to use the stick for the past 2 weeks and can report I have had no chaffing anywhere on my body. However it is still yet to break 15 degrees, let alone get into the 20 degrees mark when I have ran, and I know from experience that this is where my body can get affected by chaffing or blisters, especially during road marathons. I will continue use Nuuns Bodyglide to see how it fares over the spring months (and marathons).

Another benefit is that for those of you who dislike greasy fingers or the residue that can be left on clothing from other products, this Nuun Bodyglide has so far left no residue.  It’s also not tested on animals and is completely vegan, which is what we like here at Trek and Run.
